The return of the Wedding season means Anniversaries too. What are you up for?

Now let's not appear too reactionary, you may choose to celebrate any anniversary, from your first date to moving in together. However the same milestones and symbols are equally appropriate for these, or a big day flouncing down the aisle of a flower filled building.


Anniversaries, and particularly wedding anniversaries are a milestones in a couple's journey together. Traditionally, each anniversary year is associated with a specific stone, metal, or item that represents the strength and significance of that particular milestone. These are the main anniversary milestones that you may be celebrating and their corresponding symbols:

15th Anniversary: Crystal Crystal represents the clarity and transparency of a loving relationship. You could gift your partner a crystal vase or a piece of crystal jewellery.

16th Anniversary: Peridot. This vibrant green gemstone represents renewal, growth, and prosperity. Consider surprising your loved one with peridot earrings, or a peridot pendant.


20th Anniversary: China signifies the delicate beauty and elegance of a marriage that has endured for two decades. Surprise your partner with a set of fine china dinnerware, planning a romantic dinner at a Chinese restaurant, or even embarking on a trip to explore the wonders of China together.

25th Anniversary: The silver anniversary is a significant milestone. Silver represents the radiance and strength of a relationship that has stood the test of time. You could celebrate with silver jewellery or a silver photo frame for your favourite wedding photo.



30th Anniversary: Pearl. Pearls symbolise wisdom, beauty, and purity, making them an ideal choice for celebrating three decades of marriage. You could gift your partner a classic pearl necklace, a pair of pearl earrings, or even plan a romantic getaway to a tropical location known for its pearl diving.






50th Anniversary: Reaching the golden milestone is truly remarkable. Gold symbolises the precious and rare nature of a 50-year union. Consider gifting your partner gold jewellery, planning a lavish golden-themed celebration, or even going on a dream vacation to a destination renowned for its golden beaches.


These are just a few examples of the traditional anniversary symbols. However, it's important to note that modern interpretations have also emerged over time.
